    John Di Lemme on “That Little Bit Extra…”

    The “little bit extra” is a very powerful concept to put into practice today in every aspect of your life. The difference between being ordinary and being extraordinary is that little bit EXTRA.  The little bit extra is what separates average performers from CHAMPIONS!

    In a sales process, the little bit extra is that one extra follow-up call, that extra sincere thank-you or the extra little bit of energy that you put into the presentation of your business. This will separate you from your competition.  You can either go through the motions of your business or you can give that little bit extra in order to cement yourself in the mind of your potential customer. We all can relate to purchasing a product/service from someone who just gave you a little bit extra attention than their competitor did and THAT is the reason we bought from THEM!

    When I personally coach someone, one of my key strategies is to move them to become champions in their field.  One of the easiest ways is to show them the value of what a little extra eye contact with their prospects or customers brings.  You need to look your prospect or customer directly in their eyes when you are presenting your business!  This drives into them your confidence and conviction about what you and your product/service have to offer them.  When I coach people, I tell them that the eye contact strategy alone will take them two steps ahead of their competition.

    Remember, people will feed off your confidence from the look in your eyes.  As you progress in your journey towards fulfilling your WHY, you need to constantly give that little extra!  The true sign of a champion-to-be is just when it seems impossible for him/her to give that extra push; they dig deep down and give that little bit extra to fulfill their WHY!  When I speak to groups, I train them to have the mindset of always giving a little bit more than their competitor.  Over the long run, it will pay off big!  A small improvement over a long period of time will produce outstanding results.

    Now that you know the benefit of giving that little bit of extra effort, you need to ask yourself a question…”What can I do today and every day with a little more effort to move me to the champion level in my field?”  You need to realize someone will be the champion in your chosen endeavor.  Let me ask you a question, “Why not you?”

    John Di Lemme on “In Success Language, Failure Means You Are Almost There!”

    I have to admit the title of my section this week is OUTSTANDING!  We all know as we are progressing towards our personal goals, dreams and aspirations that we will fail repeatedly, and then all of a sudden we achieve our ultimate outcome and attain our WHY in LIFE!  As I state on my story page (http://www.johndilemme.com/jd_story.htm), “Each failure is a stepping stone to Success, which in turn will become a very long and lovely stone walkway into the castle of your DREAMS!”  You must truly internalize the need to fail in life.

    Most people fail more between the ages of 16-25 and then they don’t fail ever again in life, which means they never SUCCEED!  You see, at the age 25 the majority of people lose their steam and decide to live a life instead of designing a lifestyle for themselves and their families.  I am very proud to say that I have failed numerous times in my life.  Just ask my parents, they will tell you …”but John you went to college just get a JOB!”  As entrepreneurs, we all know that we never have jobs because whatever we do has our life-print on it, which represents our potential.  The following is a list of people that we all know who failed before they succeeded.  I cannot emphasize enough that you need to continue to try over and over until you succeed and realize that, as I’ve said before, “Each failure is a stepping stone to Success, which in turn will become a very long and lovely stone walkway into the castle of your DREAMS!”

    FAILURES…BUT NOT QUITE
    –After Fred Astaire’s first screen test, a 1933 memo from the MGM testing director said, “Can’t act.  Slightly bald.  Can dance a little.”  Astaire kept that memo over the fireplace in his Beverly Hills home.

    –A relatively unsuccessful marketer of restaurant equipment, he didn’t sell his first hamburger until age 52.  At a time when many people prepare for retirement, Ray Kroc built McDonald’s from a handful of hamburger stands into the world’s largest food chain.

    –When his older brother was killed during WWII, he first withdrew into a shell.  Then he began to listen to the radio to ease his pain.  Soon he was dreaming about hosting his own radio show.  That led Dick Clark to start American Bandstand.

    –Walt Disney was fired by a newspaper for lacking ideas.  He also went bankrupt several times before he built Disneyland.

    The question that I have for you now is, “Do you realize how you must be proud of your failures because they really are successes?”  Many of my workshop attendees have heard me say “…experience is what you receive when you do not achieve what you desire.”  I suggest to print this out and put it on your desk where you can read this article every day and remind yourself about Fred Astaire, Ray Kroc, Dick Clark, and Walt Disney and say to yourself, “What is MY story going to be?”  You need to fail in order to ultimately succeed in LIFE!  After all, “IN SUCCESS LANGUAGE, FAILURE MEANS YOU ARE “ALMOST THERE!”

    John Di Lemme on “Mastermind Team: Do You Have One?”

    The key to life is to be around the people who will empower you to reach the next level in life! In order to exceed your present reach, you need to be around people who will help you stretch a little farther.  The secret to a productive mastermind team is for you to surround yourself with people who you can always learn from.  A sign of a very intelligent person is to be smart enough to realize that you need to learn from others who can contribute to your WHY in life.

    As you know, my ultimate outcome is to develop the #1 personal self-development company in the world. Each and every day I strive to immerse myself in material and people who will enable me to achieve our corporate mission.

    As you look at your own mission in life, you need to ask yourself a very honest/straightforward question ….“Is my personal development engine in Forward, Neutral or Reverse?”  The answer is very simple.  All that you need to do is to write down the top 10 people you regularly associate with.  As you review the list, realize that you will become an exact duplicate of those 10 people — financially, spiritually, physically and psychologically.  Once again, be honest with yourself.  If you are not 110% happy about what you see yourself becoming due to your present relationships, you need to take ACTION immediately!  Make a decision to develop a mastermind TEAM! Unfortunately, 95% of people will never take the action needed in order to become part of a mastermind team.  They will continue to live their lives and wonder WHAT HAPPENED to their LIVES and all of their DREAMS. You need to stop whining and begin working on yourself to become part of a Mastermind Team!

    I am proud to say that each and every day I associate with people who are either at my level of enthusiasm, excitement and intelligence or even more so than I am, which is the key to a personally productive mastermind team. You need to be a part of a group of people who make you want to exceed your present reach. Be honest with yourself and know that you need to change your associations in order to achieve your God-given dreams! You will be amazed by the results.  Your life will SOAR like an EAGLE to the ends of the earth if you change your associations!

    John Di Lemme on “Becoming an Information Filter and a Konowledge Sponge”

    As the title states, “Become an Information Filter and a Knowledge Sponge.”  On your daily journey to achieve your WHY, you will travel through many different avenues and sometimes you will ask yourself, “Why do I need to meet this person or experience this situation?”  The key is to truly understand that you must become an information filter and use your personal God-given filters — your eyes and your ears. I always say that you were born with 4 inputs (2 eyes, 2 ears) and 1 output (mouth).

    When you decide to become a filter and filter through all the information that is taken in through your inputs, you will begin to find answers to the reasons for certain experiences in your life.   What you learn from each situation that you experience will be the foundation for future decisions.  My personal view is that “every failure is a stepping stone to success, which in turn will become a very long and lovely stone walkway into the castle of your dreams.”  Very simply, this quote means out of every failure you will filter information that will empower you to make wiser decisions based on information you learned from your personal failures!

    As you begin to realize you must become a filter – listen and observe more than you talk, you will be amazed at the insight you gain. When you combine becoming a knowledge sponge, along with being a filter, you will empower yourself to achieve your WHY!  Becoming a knowledge sponge is very simple.  You must immerse yourself in the knowledge of the #1 people in your field of endeavor.  When I first became a distributor in a direct sales organization, I simply did some research and found out what the #1 earners in direct sales/network marketing were doing.  As I result, I broke all records and built enormous sales organizations.  I was nothing special, but the methods I used were special because they were proven to work.  Remember, the smartest people are those that realize they are not the brightest or the best. 

    Each day that you embark upon your journey toward your Why, you need to be constantly absorbing as much information as possible.  Success leaves clues, and usually it is a long list of failures accompanied with one major success.  I can tell you that if you have failed in the past and right now are questioning your actions, just become an information filter and knowledge sponge.  Start to utilize your four inputs and before you know it, you will hit the mark and succeed!  I highly suggest listening to positive personal development tapes and reading some positive material EACH AND EVERY DAY in order to saturate your sponge with the proper knowledge!

    John Di Lemme on “Activity vs. Accomplishment”

    Each and every day, all of us continually search for the extra edge to win at the sport of sales and marketing.  One of the most important things that you need to know is that there is a thin line that exists between activity versus accomplishment.  Many people feel if they are “active” then they are productive.  This is not true!  Too often people run around shuffling papers, go back and forth to meetings and are continually on and off their cell phones, but they never accomplish a single task.  Consequently, they never obtain their ultimate goal.

    Each day as an achiever, you need to set daily, productive action goals that are results-oriented.  I personally prefer a goal partner – an accountability partner – someone you can be accountable to each and every day to make sure you did what you said you were going to do!  As soon as you instill this into your mindset, you will see the results of your productive efforts flourish very quickly.

    The daily compounding of effectiveness will be very dramatic for you to witness.  The key to success is leverage, but you must be confident in your efforts to be duplicated in a productive manner.  You need to ask yourself a very powerful, truthful question every night as you retire to bed, “If everyone did today what I did for my business, how much would they have actually accomplished?”
     
    Always remember, a small improvement over a long period of time produces dramatic results!  Begin to review your actions TODAY…RIGHT NOW!  Confirm that they are accomplishment-oriented and that your mindset reflects productivity versus pure movement as activity.  I WARN YOU!  You will begin to see outstanding results begin immediately.  Always be a truthful judge of your actions and determine if you are just being active or are you accomplishing your ultimate outcome through your daily activities.
