Filed under: Success Ideas — John @ 6:00 pm

The rules of reading apply to speed-reading. Therefore, you must learn the basic rules of reading in order to learn how to read fast. Therefore, we can consider the basic rules of reading to help you appreciate how it works.

    Basic Rules of Reading:
    Review
    Preview
    Recite
    Read
    Meaning
    Purpose
    Goal
    Plan
    Balance
    Practice
    Quietness
    Openness
    Listening
    Question

Next, we can test your understanding of each term listed to see where you stand. If you insert the correct answers, you are off to a great start in learning to speed-read.

    Test:
    1. When I _______I use my assessment skills, as well as my abilities to analyze and examine information I read, which augments my comprehension.
    2.  When I _________ it provides me a sample of what I can learn.
    3. _______ is a disclaimer, which narrates information while providing rehearsal strategies to work with while reading.
    4. When I ______ it helps me to interpret information, as well as understand what I read. I can scan the pages to look at information, which can help me comprehend knowledge through examination.
    5. __________ gives me a sense of value, and the importance of what I intend to do.
    6. _______ gives me new ideas, which I can rationalize to gain intentions, and reason through information.
    7. When I set ______, it drives my ambition to achieve my aims.
    8. When I ______ it provides me diagrams, maps, tables, charts, sketches, graphs, and arrangement to enhance comprehension.
    9. To _______ means, I can find stability in my plans and goals, while using a weighing scale to test my progress.
    10.  When I ______ I can live out what I learn through observation, exercise, rehearsal, training, and so forth.
    11.  ________ Gives me space to intake what I read.
    12.  _________ keeps me direct, honest, and a candidate for learning.
    13.  _________ is the product of using my conscious mind to hear, and pay attention to what I learn.
    14.  When I present ___________, I am removing doubts and issues while examining the problems.
    Answers:
    1. Review
    2. Preview
    3. Recite
    4. Read
    5. Meaning
    6. purpose
    7. goals
    8. plans
    9. balance
    10. practice
    11. quietness
    12. openness
    13. listening
    14. questions

Now, check your comprehension. What you should have learnt from the test and answers is that reviewing can help you use techniques and skills that will increase your reading speed, as well as your comprehension level.

To preview means you will glance through pages, yet you will start with titles, subtitles, lists, charts, graphics, and so forth to gain insight on what you are about to read. The progress provides you deeper meaning and enhanced comprehension.

Reciting information can also augment your comprehension level. Reading is the ultimate of all rules of reading to enhance comprehension, vocabulary, and speed. When you have meaning, you will have purpose and goals to work toward achieving your speed-reading missions. Balance is ultimate to reading, since if you do not have balance you will jump track often. Balance is measuring your skills through disciplined training.

When you practice, you are developing skills that could enhance your reading skills tremendously. Loud noises could interrupt your reading flow, thus quietness is necessary while reading. Furthermore, when you have open-mind you are willing to learn, achieve, and continue your goals.

While reading you want to avoid listening aloud, rather you want to use visualization as a tool to help you comprehend and understand what you read. Questions always find answers, thus keep seeking and you will achieve your goal to read fast.
