Speed Reading with a Goal in Mind

Filed under: Success Ideas — John @ 6:00 pm

Speed-readers take the time before starting to describe what they want to do. Before starting speed-readers explain to self what their purpose of reading the material is, as well as depict pictures in their mind, thus seeing self-read fast.

Speed-readers also analyze. The readers will examine information before reading, study to read fast, and investigate their inner abilities to achieve. Readers will scrutinize techniques that will help them read faster. As the reader unearths new information, before putting it to practice the reader will consider the details. Speed-readers will often self-induce techniques they learn to see how it works while questioning, and evaluating the results.

Fast readers do not start reading and then compare the information to additional information. Rather, the reader will read first, check his or her comprehension level, and then move to compare. For instance, Valerie predicted that the earth would move back in time by the year 2009.

Now, how is Valerie going to predict such notion? She cannot, thus a speed-reader would ignore this information and come back later to discover a meaning. Intelligent readers will not fret over such invalid statements.

Fast readers define what they learn. In other words, the reader will brisk through the pages seeking out what he or she intends to discover, and define it once the reader has finished the material.

For example, some of the leading causes of allergies, asthma, hay fever, and the like come from the tiny microscopic dust mites. Dust mites feel their hunger by feeding off dander from pets and humans.

    Define:
Microscopic bugs, such as dust mites cause allergies, as well as other problems. The bugs feed from dander found on pets and humans. Hum!

Now, a fast reader would brisk through the information, check his or her comprehension, and then move to discover new information. There is virtually no way possible that any reader could truly define this sentence without learning more.

    Comprehension:
    We have a problem
    The problem is dust mites
The bugs feed from dander found on humans and pets

    Questions:
How can we remove dust mites from our home?
    Answer:
First, we need to learn where dust mites live in the home.

The questions produce answers, and the comprehension helps us to discover that we need more to better, understand the topic. Thus, we move to evaluate the topic, since it poses interest.

Fast readers will often pick topics of interest, since they know information unrelated, or uninteresting to them will only slow their reading. Still, fast readers are willing to take challenges. A fast reader will grow to read material that may hold no interest to them. The notion is to read any type of information complex or simple at fast pace.

    Fast readers do not say:
I intend to read this information as fast as I can to get finished.

    Rather:
I intend to read this information as quickly as possible to learn new information.

    Fast readers do not say:
I intend to get through this nonsense as quickly as possible. I have better things to do.

    Rather:
I intend to read this information with the intent of learning, and developing my skills to read faster. I have a goal to achieve.

Now check your comprehension. Do you know what speed-readers do? Do you know what tools speed-readers employ to read fast?

    Discovery:
Speed-readers review information, and plan time to read. Speed-readers analyze questions, only once they read the material. Speed-readers describe, evaluate, and analyze information before and after reading. The readers compare, define, and explain what they learn before and after reading. The readers ask how, why, and will plan to find answers before reading material.

Speed Reading: How to get the most out of what you read.

Filed under: Success Ideas — John @ 6:00 pm

The rules of reading apply to speed-reading. Therefore, you must learn the basic rules of reading in order to learn how to read fast. Therefore, we can consider the basic rules of reading to help you appreciate how it works.

    Basic Rules of Reading:
    Review
    Preview
    Recite
    Read
    Meaning
    Purpose
    Goal
    Plan
    Balance
    Practice
    Quietness
    Openness
    Listening
    Question

Next, we can test your understanding of each term listed to see where you stand. If you insert the correct answers, you are off to a great start in learning to speed-read.

    Test:
    1. When I _______I use my assessment skills, as well as my abilities to analyze and examine information I read, which augments my comprehension.
    2.  When I _________ it provides me a sample of what I can learn.
    3. _______ is a disclaimer, which narrates information while providing rehearsal strategies to work with while reading.
    4. When I ______ it helps me to interpret information, as well as understand what I read. I can scan the pages to look at information, which can help me comprehend knowledge through examination.
    5. __________ gives me a sense of value, and the importance of what I intend to do.
    6. _______ gives me new ideas, which I can rationalize to gain intentions, and reason through information.
    7. When I set ______, it drives my ambition to achieve my aims.
    8. When I ______ it provides me diagrams, maps, tables, charts, sketches, graphs, and arrangement to enhance comprehension.
    9. To _______ means, I can find stability in my plans and goals, while using a weighing scale to test my progress.
    10.  When I ______ I can live out what I learn through observation, exercise, rehearsal, training, and so forth.
    11.  ________ Gives me space to intake what I read.
    12.  _________ keeps me direct, honest, and a candidate for learning.
    13.  _________ is the product of using my conscious mind to hear, and pay attention to what I learn.
    14.  When I present ___________, I am removing doubts and issues while examining the problems.
    Answers:
    1. Review
    2. Preview
    3. Recite
    4. Read
    5. Meaning
    6. purpose
    7. goals
    8. plans
    9. balance
    10. practice
    11. quietness
    12. openness
    13. listening
    14. questions

Now, check your comprehension. What you should have learnt from the test and answers is that reviewing can help you use techniques and skills that will increase your reading speed, as well as your comprehension level.

To preview means you will glance through pages, yet you will start with titles, subtitles, lists, charts, graphics, and so forth to gain insight on what you are about to read. The progress provides you deeper meaning and enhanced comprehension.

Reciting information can also augment your comprehension level. Reading is the ultimate of all rules of reading to enhance comprehension, vocabulary, and speed. When you have meaning, you will have purpose and goals to work toward achieving your speed-reading missions. Balance is ultimate to reading, since if you do not have balance you will jump track often. Balance is measuring your skills through disciplined training.

When you practice, you are developing skills that could enhance your reading skills tremendously. Loud noises could interrupt your reading flow, thus quietness is necessary while reading. Furthermore, when you have open-mind you are willing to learn, achieve, and continue your goals.

While reading you want to avoid listening aloud, rather you want to use visualization as a tool to help you comprehend and understand what you read. Questions always find answers, thus keep seeking and you will achieve your goal to read fast.

Career Analysis and the Next Step…

Filed under: Success Ideas — John @ 6:00 pm

Resources, such as materials in writing can help you decide which career you want to consider for your plans. To help you decide on your career we can consider a few types of careers and what they could offer you.

    Careers:
    Wildlife Fisheries
    Dance
    Airway Science
    Urban Affairs
    Water Utility Operation
    Third World Studies
    Psychoanalyst
    Building Construction Technology
    Liberal Studies
    Fitness and Health
    Nursing
    Doctor
    Lawyer
    Judge
    Law Enforcement
    Sculpture
    Paralegal Studies
    Retail Management
    Substance Abuse Counsel
    Transportation Technology
    Medical Record Service
    Music Therapy
    Dietetics
    Botany
    Classical Languages
Stopping here, we can see the majority of the list could bring forth grand rewards for our future. However, we have to look at the involvement of the careers to see if we want to commit this type of time.

Wildlife Fisheries: overall Wildlife Fishery experts study and practice management, ecology and conservational biology to learn more about the animals and help protect the creations: The purpose of each study varies, however ecology is the process of studying natural sciences, ecosystems, green politics, conservationism, environmentalism, and so forth while seeking a natural balance.

The career shows great rewards, yet we must consider what our purpose is before deciding if the job is right for you. To help you along you might want to read and study more into detail on each career to learn what the experts pay take is, what is completely involved and more. Thus, the point is, studying careers could help you decide which direction you want to take in life.

As you can see through each career, you could learn loads of information that helps you to advice. For instance, if you choose to study paralegals you could land self in a lawyer’s position in the near future. Of course, cops according to them take home around $25,000 each year, while higher law enforcements take home more pay. The point is if you enjoy helping people and not concerned about money, thus you could take on this position and find rewards. However, remember the consequences before deciding what is right for you.
Music therapy sounds nice, since it involves healing. This career however takes a strong belief, since if you do not believe in something it likely will fail you. The most times it fails are because a person does not try hard enough to discover the facts. Music after careful study, I have found does heal the soul to a large degree. If you become music therapist there is no stopping at this point, since you could move into any mental healing environments later.

While we can see a list of careers and a bit of details can lead us in the right direction to deciding a career, more is involved.

    Career decisions involvement:
Do I want to further my education after receiving my degree?
What resources can I draw on to help me decide my path?
Will researching each career help me to gain insight and find my purpose?
Could I choose a minor of complimentary of my major study? In other words, could I take classes unrelated to my current major to help me gain insight of my purpose?
Would inventing a major help me to visualize my future?
If I choose from instinct would I feel regret later?
Do I have the right to change my mind?

Question number one is on you. Personally, I am a person that could stay in school for the course of my life. Therefore, teaching might be in my best interest; however, I have no purpose to go in that career. Still, it poses good advances if I choose to do so. Now, I want you to sit down and relax while searching your mind to find answers to each question. Analyze, preview, review, and take notes and the like as you move along.

Moving on with Your Goals Despite what Others Think

Filed under: Success Ideas — John @ 6:00 pm

When goals are set and we get ourselves excited about these goals. THe biggest detracter from this excitement comes when we think of what others around us will think of these goals.

But the biggest thing to keep in mind, is that it’s not that others don’t want us to succeed, it’s that they have to change themselves if we succeed.

This is very common and it’s also a destroyer of dreams. When we walk out and make our goals happen, some will cheer and some will boo, but in the end the only person we can blame for not achieving our goals is ourselves.

The Will to Move on your Goals

Filed under: Success Ideas — John @ 6:00 pm

If you have a will to act on plans then you have the ability to reach goal realization. Action speaks louder than words, since faith without works faith is dead. Down through the centuries we can note many characters that made a difference in our history. These people took action to achieve their goals by refusing to sit down and let someone else achieve. Action illustrates strong characteristics of a human being. At what time a person is confident people will take note and are more willing to help you reach your goals.

To help you see results of a person acting out on his intentions we can consider a few historic characters. Martin Luther King Jr. is one man that stood up for what he believed, at the same time this man stood strong, went through struggles and persecutions, yet he still acted out to achieve his goals. Martin started out in school as we all do, arriving at the University Atlanta Lab School, and moving onto Booker. Martin scored high on tests, which sent him to college at fifteen years of age. Born in 1929, Martin graduated with a Sociology degree in hand in the year 1948. Eager to learn, Martin participating in theological seminars, at the same time furthering his education, and throughout his course of action he received president awards. This is the turning point of his thirst to achieve further. As you can see, Mr. King Jr. had a will to achieve. Martin throughout his education won several awards, and finally awarded his degree of bachelors in the Divine. Martin continued his journey in learning as he reached high to achieve his goals.

Martin Luther King Jr. overall took hold of nineteen or more degrees and was finally given the Peace Award, which no other has ever received in the history of peace struggles. This man is a fabulous example of achieving goals.

His goals were obvious. This man wanted people to recognize him as a human being, thus something that should have never been a goal in the first place. That is all men are created equal and no one has the right to judge another man for his color. Martin is outstanding in his own creation, thus making him a true definition of man.

As you can see loads of action took place in Martin Luther King Jr., life. Now ask self, are you willing to put forth this type of effort to achieve? While you may not go through the same struggles Mr. King Jr. went through, you will go through your own struggles. Thus, ask self are you ready to battle to win the race of life.

Still, you need more than action to achieve goals. For instance, a detailed and structured plan will give you power to achieve your goal and put forth the effort to achieve. While you write your goal, you can put action in its place by filling in the partial details of your plans. Thus, fill in the gaps. As you write, you should allow no room for excuses. If you make excuses, you will have many setbacks along the journey to achieving your goal, and possibly miss reaching your goal.

Still, you want to remember that the best-laid plans fail, therefore keep this in mind as you write down your goals. Leave room for a backup plan to help you recover from setbacks, emergencies and the like. Backups are endorsements that provide encouragement, help, sponsorship, support, and backing. If you have backing, you have a plan.
